Shushi, city of the Republic of Artsakh, administrative center of the Shushi province. The city had a protective significance, around which the walls of the fortress were built later. Ancient cemeteries, traditional Armenian khachkars (IX-XII centuries) were discovered in the area. From the 1820s, Shushi has been a major cultural center with a high level of education and printing. There were five typography in the town. The main architectural object is the Surb Ghazanchetsots church built on the city square.
